How do you share your blog posts?

Understanding the Essence of Blog Sharing

Sharing your blogs, the very fabric of your sweat and typing tribulations, with the world is a beaming achievement. However, the art of blog sharing isn’t as simple as just hitting a 'publish' button. There's so much more to it. Most of the learning transpires behind the scenes, through trial and error, endless cups of coffee, and perhaps damaging the laptop keyboard with overly vigorous strikes. And believe me, I can share countless stories about venturing into the fast wifi lanes from my home here in Edinburgh. But I'll save those for another day. For now, let's dive into the first part of this charismatic journey.

Tapping into the Power of Social Media

Ah, social media! The parallel universe where time is measured in likes, shares, and followers. Social media provides enormous arenas where you can shout about your latest blog posts at the top of your virtual lungs. Whether it's Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Pinterest, or the gram (Instagram for you social media laymen), each platform offers unique methods to share your content. However, the key isn't only about plastering your work everywhere but doing so strategically.

Tailoring your approach to each platform is paramount, like learning different dance steps for each tune. For instance, you can use hashtags on Twitter and Instagram to widen your reach. LinkedIn, the professional hub, is where you want to sound more like a scholar and less like a reckless Tweeting fiend. Riddle your followers with interesting snippets or quotes from your blog to hook their curiosity. Sharing is caring, but smart sharing? Well, that's genius.

Reaching out via Email Lists

Confession time. I've got a bit of a love affair going on with Email lists. If they were a person, I'd put a ring on them faster than you can say "Subscribe!". There's something incredibly personal about catching your readers in their inbox. Email allows you to communicate directly with your reader, devoid of the noise and distractions of social media.

There you have it. My secret crush. But how do you share blog posts via emails? The simple answer is newsletters. These neatly packaged emails offer a perfect blend of personal touch and information dissemination. You can include a quick introduction (nothing too elaborate, just brief), followed by a summary and link to your new post. However, try not to harass your email lists with frequent emails. They subscribed to you because they like you. Don't turn that fondness into fast-forwarded annoyance. Remember: Good relationships, online or otherwise, require mutual respect and understanding.

Speaking the Language of SEO

SEO - three simple letters that can strike fear or delight into a blogger's heart. I've wrestled with SEO (Search Engine Optimization) more times than I can count, but the beast isn't as monstrous as it seems. In fact, if you understand it, SEO could be your co-conspirator in sharing your blog posts. SEO is all about getting your content to join the ranks of the crème de la crème that appear on the first page of search engine results.

Keywords are an essential part of this process. Find what search phrases people are using to find similar content and weave these keywords into your blog posts. Make good use of meta tag descriptions too. These compelling little snippets help to grab the reader's attention in search results, drawing them to your blog. Deciphering the SEO language may initially seem like cracking the Da Vinci Code, but, get the hang of it and it becomes second nature. It's all part of speaking blog.

Engaging with Fellow Bloggers

Blogging is a vast cyber ocean teeming with countless bloggers, each vying for attention. However, it's not all dog-eat-dog. In fact, it can be quite the harmonious commune, rife with opportunities for collaboration. Engaging with fellow bloggers is not only enjoyable (I've met some incredible minds along my journey), but it can also aid in the sharing of your content.

Comment on their posts, offer valuable insights, and, when the time is right, share your post subtly. While we bloggers can sometimes come across as introverted, we do enjoy a rich dialogue. Participating in the blogging community can offer a natural, organic way to share your blog posts. But remember, don't stray into spammy territory. No one likes a self-centered conversation anarchist. So, be genuine, be curious, and the sharing will follow.

Exploring Guest Blogging Opportunities

Allow me to unravel another magical thread from the world of blogging: Guest Posting. It's like entering someone else's home and leaving your mark in the most respectful way possible. Guest blogging is effectively writing blogs for other’s blogs. It sounds like a tongue twister, but it's very straightforward.

The idea is to write a blog piece for another blogger in your industry. This is a win-win situation, where they receive a quality post for their blog while you get exposure to their audience. Also, this usually comes with the added bonus of a backlink to your own blog. Through this, you can promote your own blog posts in a manner that's respectful and beneficial to both parties. Remember to choose your guest blogging platforms carefully. Their audience should align with yours for maximum impact. And there you have it, another doorway to share your blog posts opened.

Sharing your blogs is a grand adventure, laden with trials, triumphs, and tremendous learning curves. From mastering social media etiquette to decoding SEO, crafting engaging newsletters to hobnobbing with other bloggers, in every nook and cranny, there's a lesson to be learnt, a smile to be shared. Remember to respect your readers and fellow bloggers, for sharing is as much about giving as it is about receiving. Keep exploring, keep learning, and keep sharing. Cheers from Kieran in Edinburgh!
